About
Our History
General Bar was established in 1941 by George and Ruth Bloom. Headquartered within the Bar Building in New York City, George and his wife Ruth quickly became a friendly face at CLLA meetings across the country taking pictures and making memories with its members. In 1983 the Sonnhalter family acquired General Bar focusing on continuing the development of the success by the Blooms. What started as a printed publication has grown to become the first list of its kind to establish a web presence to serve its members and forwarders alike. With the transition to the web, General Bar grew to a far wider audience allowing its members to gain more exposure than ever. We continue to strive to provide the most robust network of attorneys available anywhere today. The Sonnhalter family guarantee another generation of hard work through the children of President Charles Sonnhalter.
What We Do
General Bar promotes our network of listed counsel to agencies across the world. Our members specialize in handling matters of collection, bankruptcy, subrogation and most general legal matters. Most importantly we provide a FREE insurance program to our customers on each and every referral that is placed with our members and reported to our office. This $2,000,000 Chubb insurance program is the largest provided in the industry and twice the amount offered by most other law lists. Our staff is available for personal assistance in selecting legal counsel, obtaining status reports and any other legal department needs that you may have.
Let General Bar help you in selecting the best creditors' rights counsel available in the world!
