Who's The Boss?

The director of the CFPB, Kathleen Kraninger, believes that the financial agency she leads is unconstitutionally structured. The bureau had determined that the law that established the agency in the wake of the financial crisis gave her too much independence. The DOJ has formally filed a brief with the Supreme Court which includes her stance. The Justice Department did say it would be possible to limit the power of the agency's director.
The CFPB has also decided it won't remove the complaint database that consumers use for assistance in resolving financial issues. The bureau has handled 1.9 million complaints and more than 5,000 companies have responded to consumers.
