Mr. Roboto
 By: Bob Sonnhalter

Robocalls have been a popular way for the collections industry to contact debtors. Recently, the FTC has shut down four companies who were using robocalling illegally to solicit a variety of services. A group called Higher Goals Marketing used robocalls to provide a fraudulent debt-relief service. The judgement will be suspended when the defendants turn over all of their available assets to the FTC.

How will this affect robocalling in the future? AT&T and Comcast are already implementing a service to prevent robocalling described as a verified call that assures a number is not spoofed. Verizon will create a tool this week to protect their wireless customers.
